The End of the Year Book Tag

Hello everyone! I am back from my week-long hiatus after Blogtober. I thought that now that we’re in November, meaning there are only two months of the year left, that I would do this fun tag! It was created a few years ago by Ariel Bissett on Youtube, so be sure to watch her video as well.

Before I get to the tag, though, I just wanted to ask if you all could fill out this quick survey for the end of the year. It’s a list of questions about my blog and what you would want to see in the future. It should only take a couple of minutes to complete, and it would help me out a ton! Thanks!

Okay, let’s get to the questions!

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

The Secret History. I have not yet finished this one. I’ve been reading a chapter or two every month for the past 5 months now. I am determined to finish it (hopefully this month) before the year is over. I will not go into 2020 with this book still unread.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

The Starless Sea (I will be recommending this book for the rest of my life). It is such a cozy, feel-good book full of magical descriptions and complex characters. And it’s out as of a couple days ago! I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t already.

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Queen of Nothing

The only release I’m waiting for is Queen of Nothing by Holly Black but only because I want to finish the Folk of the Air trilogy. I gave the first and second book both 3 stars I believe. There was nothing special about them to me, but maybe I’ll finally see all of the hype about Jude and Cardan in this one.

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

  1. Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo- I don’t know if this one will happen yet. I might save it for 2020 so that I don’t rush through it.
  2. A Heart in a Body in the World by Deb Caletti- This one is going to be on my December TBR, so hopefully I will actually get to it!
  3. Tweet Cute by Emma Lord- This one is on this month’s TBR, and I definitely think I will finish it fairly soon. I have high expectations for this one, though, so I’m a little nervous.

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

I honestly don’t think anything can beat out my favorite book of the year (The Starless Sea if you didn’t know). I’m not going to say it’s impossible, but it’s pretty unlikely for anything I read to top that one!

Have you already started making reading plans for 2020?

Sort of. I decided that my reading goal was going to be 52 books again, just as it was this year. Even though I surpassed this goal fairly quickly, I liked that I didn’t feel pressured to read too much. That’s about as far as my reading plans have gone, though.

let's chat

What does your reading look like for the rest of the year? How many books have you read? Let me know in the comments!
