Happy Ending- A Poem / Blogtober Day 4

I haven’t posted any of my poetry on here in a while. Being vulnerable on the internet is hard. And scary. So I don’t do it as much as I’d want to.

But I love sharing my writing. And I constantly want to improve- feedback is one way to do that. So here’s a poem I wrote during National Poetry Month in April!

The clock struck midnight,

and Cinderella lost her shoe,

but in this fairy tale,

the prince never found it.

She waited months

for him to rescue her

from her horrible stepmother;

Only the wait was infinite.

One day she woke up

and realized that she didn’t need a Prince.

She only needed herself,

a little courage,

and a bit of will.

So she packed a bag,

walked out the door,

and never looked back.

She eventually found her prince.

The story didn’t happen the way she thought,

but she learned an important lesson instead:

sometimes you need to be your own savior;

your own guide out of the darkness

in order to finally get your happy ending.

let's chat

Please let me know what you think of this poem :) If you liked it, if you think there’s something to change, etc. I want to hear it all!
